SYNOPSIS
In the 1930s, a sailor embarked on an extraordinary journey that took him from Venice all the way to Syracuse, capturing the trip using the brand-new Pathé Baby camera. Preserved as an original negative and rediscovered at Lanterne Magiche Ortigia, this precious footage shot on 9.5mm film was rescued from oblivion and brought back to life thanks to the meticulous restoration by Cineteca dello Stretto. These previously unseen archival images restore to the viewer the visual memory of a lost Italy, revealing glimpses, faces, and atmospheres of a country that no longer exists and was being captured on film for the very first time.
