SYNOPSIS
The school year 2020/21 is just around the corner and Alice and Eric, alongside their eighth-grade classmates from the ‘Edmondo De Amicis’ institute in Floridia (Syracuse), are embarking on the delicate transition from childhood to adolescence amidst curbed freedoms and increasingly harsh restrictions. Their friendship is intertwined between lessons to sensitise them on the theme of ‘plastic free’, a theater workshop centered on the legend of the Sicilian hero Colapesce, and the typical anxieties of their age, generated by the choice of high school and the instability of the horizon. Both have a burdensome past behind them and an uncertain future ahead, and thus share a complex existential condition against the backdrop of a territory in the deep South of Italy and Europe. A symbolic border space and at the same time an avant-garde on the effects of climate change.
