“OFF in Metamorphosis
– Eros and Light”

The exhibition “OFF in Metamorphosis – Eros and Light” celebrates the history of Ortigia Film Festival through the audiovisual memory of trailers from previous editions and the contemporary work “Eros” by Domenico Pellegrino, a Sicilian artist known as “the artist of light.” The exhibition is part of the project “OFF sposa l’arte,” aimed at strengthening the bond between cinema and visual arts, while narrating Sicilian identity in all its complexity and vitality.

The Work “Eros”
“Eros” is a large hand-carved and hand-painted wooden roundel, inspired by Hellenistic vase painting. The work depicts Eros in a dynamic pose, suspended between gesture and metamorphosis, with light as the central symbolic element evoking knowledge and creativity.

The Artist
Domenico Pellegrino is a Sicilian artist of international renown, celebrated for his luminous and symbolic installations that merge Mediterranean tradition with contemporary language. He has exhibited in prestigious contexts such as the Venice Biennale and Manifesta 12.
